SITE RULES

SITE RULES

It’s really important that all visitors adhere to these on-site rules. Please take the time to read carefully and, for now, please contact us before you visit.

  1. Please treat the burial ground with care and respect to ensure it is a place for respectful burial, peace and quiet reflection for all.

  2. No vehicles allowed overnight (ask the PWNBG about accommodation).

  3. Please keep to the pathways around the site. Do not walk on marked burial plots.

  4. No flower or wildflower seed may be scattered, or wildflower plugs or bulbs planted on the burial ground unless approved by the PWNBG team who will be establishing non-native wildflowers over the years (many commercially sold wildflower mixes include inappropriate or non-native seeds).

  5. No picking of wildflowers or fungi is permitted.

  6. No construction of any kind of flower bed is permitted. Please don’t bring soil, peat or compost to the site.

  7. No naturally germinated seedlings or flowers apart from bramble, thistle, nettle and ragwort may be cut or removed from plots.

  8. No trees or shrubs may be planted or removed except by PWNBG.

  9. All visitors shall behave in a law abiding, peaceful and respectful manner. Mobile phones to be switched off or to silent whilst on site.

  10. No amplified music should be played under any circumstances, except during funeral services.

  11. Children must always be supervised by an adult.

  12. Whilst we allow dogs at Primrose Wood, they must always be kept on a short lead to avoid bothering other visitors, disturbing burial plots or disturbing ground nesting birds. Please clear up dog mess and take the waste/bag home with you.

  13. Litter bins are provided (not for dog mess) but, where possible, we do ask that you take any rubbish home with you, including plastic wrapping or fixings to floral tributes that extended family or friends may have left on the graves.

  14. No marker, monument, fence, or other construction is permitted. No vases, plastic, wrapping, wind chimes, toys, photographs, man-made decorative ornaments/fixings, bird/mammal boxes are permitted on graves and burial plots. Nothing can be hung from or tied to trees or guards. All inappropriate items will be immediately removed.

  15. We only allow fresh, native-only flowers without packaging to be placed on the graves. No containers, floral foam or vases are permitted. All flower tributes will be removed seven days after the burial, or earlier if necessary.

  16. We take great care to nurture the young trees, but some may fail and, in time, others will require management such as coppicing, pruning - or even thinning when they are too close together. We reserve the right to undertake the appropriate management to ensure PWNBG develops as a thriving woodland site with well-spaced trees, traditional coppice, shrubs, glades, wide rides and narrower paths. This may result in a temporary closure of the site.

  17. The scattering of cremated remains without purchasing the right to do so is not permitted – please enquire about our ashes plots and ash scattering area. Ashes are toxic and we cannot grow trees where they have been scattered or buried.

  18. Registers and plans of the burial ground are kept in the office where they may be inspected free of charge by appointment. In accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) we are only permitted to release information to the public in respect of the deceased.

  19. Cars and bicycles are only permitted to be used in the parking area and entrance. All vehicles including contents are parked at the owner’s risk.

  20. No catering, food or drink including picnics and barbecues are permitted within Primrose Wood.

  21. We are a no smoking or vaping site. Please refrain from this whilst on the premises.

Note:

Whilst we have made efforts to accommodate disabled parking and have mown paths around the site, due to the nature of the developing woodland and inherently uneven ground, disabled access is limited and we recommend visiting with a friend who can help. However, please do call PWNBG ahead of a planned visit to see how we can help.

There are no toilet facilities on site, so please plan ahead of your visit. If guests are attending a service or celebration at the Tudor Barn at Milden Hall, there are plenty of toilet facilities there.
